TWITTER'S NEW THEME SONG "I WILL FOLLOW"!

I recently was talking to my sister-in- law Paula about that contagious Twitter.com that's seems to be taking over the planet. Well the web guru that she is, she was giving me some tips on how I could increase my Twitter followers (twitter.com/kayachi) which one way was following a lot of other people. I know you guys are like o.k. so what were some other tips she gave you? But unfortunately that's not the purpose of this posting so let me get back on the subject.

My reply to her was something like "So o.k. I will follow". This made me think of U2's 1980 hit "I Will Follow" from their album Boy. I love that song and I thought to myself this could be Twitter's new theme song. I mean c'mon....a big collabo with one of the greatest bands on earth as well as the biggest social networking site where people just can't get enough of and both have a ton of followers. At the end of the day it makes sense. So the next time you go to twitter.com, don't be shocked if you hear some U2, especially if someone from Twitter reads my blog.

Peace,
Kayachi

DEPECHE MODE COMEBACK!

Yes, I'm a major Depeche Mode fan!! When I first heard that Depeche Mode was coming out with a new album, I was so excited. It made me think of one of my favorite albums....Violator that came out in 1990. This was there seventh album by the English band who formed in 1980 and the electrorock group consisted originally of Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, Andrew Fletcher, and Vince Clarke.
Depeche Mode recorded about 12 albums and another goodie album was Music for the Masses which came before the Violator album. Along with groups like U2, Depeche Mode is one of the longest lived and influential bands having record sales in excess of 100 million. So one of my favorite songs I enjoyed on the Violator album was "Enjoy the Silence". For all of you Depeche Mode fans, I'm taking you back in time. Oh and I know this video is kinda weird but weren't a lot of videos weird? ENJOY THE SILENCE :)

Thriller versus Purple Rain- which album is your fav?

Wow ....this shirt from illstreetbluesclothing brought back a lot of good memories so I just had to get it and since then, I have been on some music forums posing the question of which album was better....Thriller or the Purple Rain album? Yeah Yeah I know its a tough call but my vote is Purple Rain....I just loved Purple Rain. Now don't get me wrong, I know the Thriller album was and is still the #1 album sold of all times and I love the Thriller album too but if I had too choose, I have to go with P.R.

I mean " Purple Rain", "When Doves Cry, "The Beautiful Ones, "I Would Die 4 U" and so on and so on! I just remember playing that album over and over gazing at my Prince poster from dawn till dusk. From the album and his concert to seeing the Purple Rain Movie about 500 times, I was in Purple Rain land back in the day. It's also good to point out that Prince wrote and produced this great album as well.

Of course though I have to give respect to Thriller. When Thriller was released, I rushed out like a mad woman to get the album and when the 14 minute Thriller video came out, I totally was GLUED to my TV. Back then, a team of us girls also won first place for our remake of the Thriller dance (man all these years I wonder what the heck did I do with my trophy....hmmmmm.) Anywho, my two favorite songs besides Thriller were the infamous "Billie Jean", and the slow cut "The Lady in my Life".

So I just thought it would be fun to pose this question. I know that both were great artists and I guess at the end of the day, its just a preference. Oh and since I like funny stuff, I had to show this Dave Chappelle clip as Prince and the second clip shows 1500 inmates from the Philippines practicing the Thriller dance.....wow how both of these artists have made a huge impact!

A tribute to James Whitmore-Brooks from The Shawshank Redemption

I was sad to hear about the loss of actor James Whitmore who played Brooks Hadlin in my all time favorite movie, The Shawshank Redemption. Honestly, I only knew a little bit about this talented actor and I wanted to take time to find out more info. about him.

Whitmore was also well known for his role as Captain Benteen in "On Thursday We Leave for Home", from The Twilight Zone. Add to the list his nomination for an Academy Award in "Give 'em Hell, and another one for "Battleground". In the 50's, Whitman held acting workshops and one of his student's was James Dean who he helped get gigs in LA and encouraged him to go to New York to audition for the Actors Studio.

And just a tidbit...remember Mrs Roper from Three's Company? Her name is Audrey Lindley and Whitmore married her in 1972. They appeared quite frequently on stage together and continued their professional relationship long after their divorce in 1979. Before his passing, he also was a supporter of President Barack Obama and gave several speeches on his behalf.

It will take me forever to go through James Whitmore's long list of achievements but I'm glad I was able to dig a little deeper into this great actor's past. For all you fans, please feel free to share your thoughts and comments.

Snuggie-is it a pop culture?

O.K. so a few weekends ago, I was with friends enjoying the weekend and watching the tube when the infamous Snuggie infomerical took over the screen. As all of us had seen this maybe 100 times already, we couldn't stop talking about the blanket with sleeves. "They look crazy", or something like that as I replied. Another friend said "They look like creeps" and when they showed the family at the ball game, someone else shouted "What are they in a cult...I could never wear that in public." And on and on we went with the wisecracks as within an hour they showed the Snuggie about 10 more times!

Well low and behold, Snuggie is making a mark on pop culture all over the internet from yahoo to youtube. Its captured a lot of folks attention with 4 million sold.....wow do the math at $19.95. So reading these articles made me realize that although I currently reside in LA, I lived in Chicago for a very long time and know how brutally cold it gets in those winter months. I said to myself maybe Snuggie is not such a bad idea after all and I would imagine that a lot of other people would agree. Or would they....what do you think?
